Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain a message sent by email long enough to review and answer it. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the server automatically receives basic technical and usage details:
- Page-view dates and times
- Your device's assigned IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- The referring site, when one is reported
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on a device. We use them with analytics services to understand traffic in aggregate, including which pages receive visits and where visits end. You may block cookies through browser controls, although doing so can change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a search query to the selected partner service
- Maintaining reliable site operation and page speed
- Finding and repairing errors or security issues
- Measuring which pages serve visitors well
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Tyrrell County guidance identifies official custodians such as the Sheriff, the Clerk of Superior Court, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. Public access to government records is controlled by the North Carolina Public Records Law, while G.S. 132-1.4 limits dissemination of criminal investigative material and identifies basic information that remains public. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal profiles.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the site's search boxes. Their own privacy policies, retention rules, and sharing practices apply to data entered there. This policy does not control those companies, so review the applicable provider policy before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Tyrrell County government, North Carolina courts, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search tools. Once you leave this site, the destination's policy controls its collection and use of data. Review that policy before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to follow activity across sites and select targeted ads. We do not operate that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. It may be disclosed to these limited recipients:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search providers that process a query you submit
- Advertising networks that serve material on the site
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards protect the information we collect. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary with the law that applies where you live. North Carolina's Public Records Law governs records held by public agencies, not data held by this private site. Criminal-record dissemination is also limited by statutes such as G.S. 132-1.4, and G.S. 15A-153 restricts ordinary public disclosure after an expunction. For information held by us, you may:
- Request deletion of personal data we hold
- Ask for a copy of personal information on file
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Opt out of certain processing where that option applies
